Wetlands

The Gippsland Lakes includes eleven Ramsar wetland habitat types ranging from freshwater marsh environments around the river mouths to coastal lagoons and saltmarsh between the lakes and the ocean. This diversity means they can be home to a very wide range of plants and animals. The Gippsland Lakes wetlands are home to some rare and threatened frogs including the Growling Grass frog and the Green and Golden Bell frog.
